Putty Hill Garage Racing Team from 1952 to 1953

From 1952 to 1953, the Putty Hill Garage Racing Team raced mainly with the Pete Kantorski owned Number 23. Pete was generally behind the wheel but Ken Marriott piloted the 23 at times as well. The images below are from the photo albums of Jim Bunty, who was a key member of the team through 1964. However, Jim was drafted into the Army to serve in Korea in 1953 and wasn't discharged until 1955 so photos from that time period are limited. The photos feature the Number 23 car, the drivers, and some members of the team, including George Heffner, the owner of the famed Putty Hill Garage.

Although Pete and his car did not stay with the Putty Hill Garage Racing Team after 1953, he also continued racing into the 1960s.

Unfortunate Events

The number 24 car was originally built for Jim Bunty, a crew member on the Putty Hill Garage Racing Team, to drive; however, Jim was drafted into the Army to fight in Korea. His good friend, Reds, wrecked the car in a race before Jim ever got to drive it.
